Sonar Transponder Module for Gavia AUV
THE SONAR TRANSPONDER MODULE (STM), is a module for receiving and retransmitting sonar signals which allows for a standard Gavia vehicle to be configured as a Sonar Training Target (STT) for ASW training purposes. The STM consist of a flooded transducer compartment, an electronic compartment and a hydrophone that is towed behind the Gavia AUV and is capable of simulating preprogrammed target characteristics. The STM is programmable to emulate different type of realistic submarine target sizes and speeds for cost effective and re-usable ASW training capability.

The Revolution™ LP is a strap-down electronic compass designed specifically for commercial, industrial, and military users. The Revolution LP will be of particular interest to ROV and AUV manufacturers who are concerned with power usage and accurate heading in all types of challenging conditions. In standby mode, it draws a mere 50 μA and requires only 15 mA in run mode. It provides accurate heading data in less than a tenth of a second from wakeup. Hyperspectral ocean color radiometer (HOCR) sensors are designed for applications where performance, size and power are key constraints. DVL-Aided INS Module
INS options include the Kearfott T24, the Kearfott T16 and the IxBlue ROVINS-154. These are navigation-quality INS systems which provide very accurate short-term navigation and motion sensing. They are integrated with a DVL (and GPS when surfaced) to provide a highly accurate AUV navigation solution. With the T24 INS and 600kHz DVL the navigation accuracy for the AUV going in a straight line is better than 5.5m in 6km (1hr submerged), or ~25m for the T16 (same conditions). ROVINS-154 accuracy figures are available on enquiry. The navigation accuracy is improved when running a lawnmower survey pattern, resulting in about 2m/hour navigation drift rate for the T24/600kHzDVL (conditions and survey pattern dependent).

Science Bay Module for Gavia AUV
The Gavia Science Bay Module is a generic payload module that allows a Gavia user to add up to six scientific sensors to the Gavia AUV. The module includes several hull penetrations, including four (4) penetrations that can accommodate WetLabs ECO pucks, two external wet plugs that can provide power and serial communication for external devices, one slot for a SeaBird CTD, one penetration that can accommodate an Aanderaa Optode oxygen sensor, as well as a weak link on the bottom of the module. The weak link provides the option of towing an external sensor and reduces stress on the wet plug.

GeoSwath Module
The GeoSwath Plus Sonar Module contains a wide-swath bathymetric sonar suitable for a range of survey and inspection tasks. The GeoSwath Plus is a 500kHz interferometric sonar, or phase detecting bathymetric sonar (PDBS) from Kongsberg GeoAcoustics. Boat-mounted GeoSwath sonars are used worldwide for high accuracy surveys including port and harbour navigation and environmental mapping: the Gavia’s GeoSwath module makes this capability available in a commercial AUV. The GeoSwath Plus offers: wide swath coverage of up to 12 times the AUV altitude when near the seabed; integrated bathymetry with simultaneous true digital side scan; high depth resolution suitable for IHO survey standards; as well as the accuracy and repeatability of a boat-mount hydrographic survey system. Like most of the survey-grade sensors on the Gavia AUV, the GeoSwath data is time-synchronised with the AUV master clock using the vehicle PPS/ZDA system. Benefits of the GeoSwath AUV module include ease of deployment, ease of use, reducing survey time, and the ability to take a 500kHz high-resolution sonar down to targets in 1000m of water. The GeoSwath Plus post-processing software (provided as standard with the system) allows a user to inspect and process the data, create and inspect digital terrain models, and create basic sonar mosaics. Several other commercial post-processing software packages are also available, please ask for details. Note that for best results the GeoSwath Module should be deployed with a direct-reading sound velocity sensor (option) in the Control Module, and one of the high-accuracy INS/DVL Navigation Modules for motion sensing.
