XP Power today announced the DPC series of highly efficient ultra slim DIN rail AC-DC power supplies. Available in 30, 50 and 70 Watt single output models, they all accept the universal input range from 90 to 264 VAC without the need for any input selector switches. Taking up significantly less space on the rail by being up to 44% slimmer than current generation DIN rail power supplies, the 30 Watt DPC30 measures just 90.0 x 100.0 x 22.5 mm (3.6 x 3.94 x 0.89 inches). Also, the 50 Watt DPC50 measures 90.0 x 100.0 x 30.0 mm (3.6 x 3.94 x 1.18 inches) and the 70 Watt DPC70 measures only 90.0 x 100.0 x 40.5 mm (3.6 x 3.95 x 1.59 inches). Offering all the popular nominal output voltages from + 5 to + 48 VDC, the single output can be adjusted up to + 30% of stated nominal, model dependant, in order to accommodate non-standard voltage requirements or to make up for line losses. Circuit Check began Strain Gauge Testing in 1999 when BGA/SMT technology started replacing PTH components, reducing strain levels was a reactive post fixture fabrication process. We quickly recognized that the “reactionary” process was neither efficient nor were we capable on knowing the lowest achievable strain levels. Our engineering team came up with visual tools utilized during design to easily identify areas of excessive probe force, though still not enough data was generated to identify the lowest possible strain. Finite Element Analysis software models the PCBA and test fixture and applies the pressures from test probes and board supports and indicates the micro strain level applied to the PCBA. Using the FEA software during our design process allows our engineers to modify fixture designs to attain the lowest possible micro strain before fabrication begins.

The Falco Systems WMA-02 is a high voltage amplifier that runs from an 24 - 30V DC power supply and can be battery powered if required, e.g. for use in a Faraday cage. Its internal high voltage generator is inductor-free and hence does not spread magnetic interference in sensitive experimental setups. The output noise is impressively low at 4mVrms. For extremely low noise applications where bandwidth is not an issue, a dedicated WMA-02LF version is available that contains an output low pass filter capacitor which reduces the bandwidth to 50Hz, but makes the noise drop to below 0.2mVrms. This bandwidth-limited amplifier is ideal for MEMS or piezo positioning with manual voltage adjustment.
