The Phantom is a long-range laser and ultraviolet (UV) stimulator capable of testing aircraft electro-optical sensor suites up to 5 km. Phantom can operate as an independent laser and/or UV stimulator or can be integrated with our other electro-optical and radio frequency range systems (see GTESS and PRTS). The Phantom provides both a laser threat and a synchronized temporal missile plume signature to stimulate both the aircraft’s laser and missile warning systems. Training aircrew to counter maneuver a Laser Beam Riders (LBR) threat is considered essential to survival and in-air training. The Phantom can be deployed either on a shoulder or tripod mount.

It uses the proven UV fluorescence principle, and is designed to allow ultra-sensitive SO2 measurements while still meeting the requirements for use as a US EPA compliance analyzer.The analyzer uses both the light and dark phases of the pulsed UV light source to continuously detect and correct for electronic noise, giving exceptionally stable and sensitive performance. A separate UV detector allows the instrument to continuously correct for variations in lamp intensity. Exceptional stability is achieved with the use of an optical shutter to compensate for PMT drift, and a reference detector to correct for changes in UV lamp intensity. In addition, we added a high power LED (150mA max, 20 degree) to take full advantage of the proximity sensing capability of this IC - something you won't see on most competitive carrier boards. Integration is easy with 4 x 4-40 sized mounting holes at the corners of the PCB and signal translation to handle interface voltages from 3V to 5V. The board is interfaced via an I2C interface and function pins have been broken out to a 0.1" pin header. The INT pin is also broken out for interrupt capability.
