Textron Systems’ Radio Frequency Cable Tester (RFCT) allows for on-site testing and maintenance for radio frequency (RF) transmission paths within a platform. Using preconfigured databases of sweep parameters and pass/fail criteria, the RFCT quickly determines the status of installed RF cables. The RFCT checks each cable’s performance characteristics to include voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), insertion loss (IL), phase and phase matching. If a cable fails a test, the RFCT automatically determines the distance-to-fault (DTF). With its intuitive touchscreen-based user interface and lightweight, ruggedized packaging, the RFCT is the gold standard for operational-level RF cable testing.

The Radio Frequency (RF) Scoring Tool (RFST) takes the guess work out of RF environment simulation. During RF environment simulation, the RFST provides clear persistent scoring and recording of the RF simulator’s performance. The RFST digitizes all RF signals in the form of digital Pulse Descriptor Words (PDWs) and associated In-phase/Quadrature (I-Q) data. This massive data stream is recorded for later (Post-Scenario) Analysis. Additionally, the RFST provides a real-time visual display of the accuracy of the RF output, easily visible through straight forward real-time indicators. Frequency Counters

Frequency counter models can be direct or reciprocal counters. Direct counting models count signal cycles for a specified period, called the gate time, and resolution is in Hertz. Reciprocal counters provide faster, higher resolution performance, with resolution listed is in digits/second. When shopping for a counter, remember to review resolution and accuracy as separate specifications. The resolution of a frequency counter is the smallest change it will detect between closely spaced frequencies.

Thorlabs' Mode-Conditioned Light Sources are fiber-coupled LED sources that have an output with a flat-top profile in the far field. Common applications include the testing of multimode fused fiber components as well as verification of modal behavior in fiber-based setups. Standard fiber-coupled LED sources can have a range of output profiles that are usually not uniform and vary from source to source. This can be dependent on emitter orientation, alignment with fiber tip, and connector assembly. These mode-conditioned sources have been engineered to distribute light evenly into all transverse modes, resulting in an equilibrium modal distribution at the output. The front panel includes an adjustment knob to control the power and an output port that accepts 2.2 mm wide-key FC/PC connectors.
