Eddy-Current Brake Dynamometers (WB Series) are ideal for applications requiring high speeds and also when operating in the middle to high power range. Eddy-Current Brakes provide increasing torque as the speed increases, reaching peak torque at rated speed. The dynamometers have low inertia as a result of small rotor diameter. Brake cooling is provided by a water circulation system, which passes inside the stator to dissipate heat generated by the braking power. The water cooling in the WB provides high continuous power ratings (max. 140 kW). The WB dynamometers have accuracy ratings of 0.3% to 0.5% full scale ( 2% for WB 2.7), depending on size and system configuration. The Slip-Ring Motor Starters are based on the series of resistors that are applied to the rotor circuit to control the speed/torque characteristics of the motor. Rotor starters are mainly used for the motor starting applications requiring high-starting torque like loaded belt conveyors in mining industry. By external resistors, it is possible to shift the motor maximum (break-down) torque up to starting torque point for motors under heavy loads during start-up. The resistors are splitted into some steps and controlled via contactors by motor starting control system. *The performance data of electric motors, in the majority of all cases, is performed by a brake test. Power input is calculated from current and voltage. Torque and power output are measured with a brake. It is important to reach, for each point, a persistent temperature. In case of large outer rotor BLDC motors, which are usually used for electric scooters, this traditional procedure may take many hours to complete, and is very complicated. *For several years, an innovative motor tester of MEA Testing Systems Ltd. is on the market. This testing system avoids any temperature confusion by testing a motor at constant temperature over the entire speed range. The test procedure is very fast, and gives the full load performances, including PWM current, voltage, torque, and driver efficiency, from stall up to no load. *During the test procedure, the motor is freely accelerated from stall to no load speed. The load of the motor is only the predetermined inertia of the rotor. From the moment of inertia and the acceleration, the torque of the motor is calculated and, also, the power output over the whole speed is given. Since the entire measuring time, depending on the motor size, is usually less than one second, the motor has no time to warm up. It remains at room temperature.
