The 500 series dynamometer has a larger big brother – the MD-500-SE XL! The 500-SE is an excellent 2WD performance dynamometer and the XL model expands on these traits by adding in a much wider 98-inch outer track and a HUGE mechanical flywheel to increase the mechanical inertia of the dyno to about 2,000-lbs. This additional inertia helps reduce the duty cycle burden on the eddy current PAU and even allows for pulls to be done in a pinch in inertia-only mode. The XL handles vehicles like diesels and Ford Raptors where the 500 is a bit too narrow for these types of applications. The MD-500 XL’s multiple upgrade paths allows for an AWD upgrade in the future and enables it to accept a second eddy current PAU for increased loading capability. We’ve seen this dyno handle almost 2,000-hp to the wheels on power sweeps so don’t be fooled by the 1,500-hp peak measurement specification. If your tires will hook you can measure as much power as you are laying to the rollers. The large K250 eddy current PAU has plenty of torque for testing and tuning anything from your local diesel pickup crowd and local LS guys to classic carb stuff and front wheel drive cars. The 500-XL is great product at a great price with tons of range. The Innovative Technical Systems ITS-9050 Detector is a sensitive, harmonic mixing detector designed to measure millimeter-wave free-space radiation. It is ideal for measuring radiation patterns of antennas inboth the near and far-field. The ITS-9050 employs a free-running dielectric resonator oscillator (DRO) and an integrated harmonic mixer with a waveguide RF input that either connects directly to a circuit under test or to an antenna for radiation detection. The resulting IF is amplified and detected by an IF log-detector that drives a front panel LCD voltmeter to provide an indication of signal strength. A DC output voltage from the log detector is available on a BNC connector to drive external data acquisition instrumentation. Also, a sample of the IF output is provided for measurement on a spectrum analyzer.

The 40-412A-021 (PXI) and 42-412A-021 (PXIe) are 64-Channel Digital Output modules with high output voltage and current capability. The outputs can be used for high or low drive and each channel is capable of sourcing 0.5A from the high side or 0.5A sink on the low side. Accidental operation of both high and low side driver on the same channel is prevented by the supplied driver. Outputs are fully protected against over-voltage, over-current and thermal overload, ensuring robust and reliable operation in the toughest test environments. For high side driving, the voltage source is supplied externally, allowing the module to drive high capacity loads separate from the chassis power supply. For low side driving, the external source is not used and the module’s output operates an open collector or open drain driver.

A finely tuned signal is then generated using a multi-way switch to select between the 1GHz spaced CW tones and mixed with fine resolution signals generated using a custom DDS/VCO PLL network.
