A VCXO (Voltage Controlled Crystal Oscillator) is a crystal oscillator the output frequency of which is controlled by adding an external control voltage via a frequency control input on a variable capacitance component such as a varactor diode connected in parallel to a load capacitance (CL). Epson VCXOs are divided into two types according to Voltage-Frequency (V-F) characteristic slopes depending on the AFC (Automatic Frequency Control) input configuration of the VCXO. One is a VCXO with a positive V-F slope and the other is a VCXO with a negative V-F slope. Please note that the input voltage of a control circuit will vary according to the individual type, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4. Epson's VCXOs are capable of either, depending on the customer's preference. Epson's VCXOs have been increasingly used for broader applications such as slave oscillators in phased-lock loops, or frequency modulators. Among the above types, a VCXO combined with a TCXO is called a VC-TCXO , respectively. These components have the merit of delicately controlling their output frequency electrically.

Applications include the venting of fumes and smoke, conveying of low weight materials, and entraining a high volume of air to cool, blow off, and dry. Air Amplfiiers use the “Coanda effect” to draw in the surrounding atmosphereic air while consuming only aminimal amount of compressed air. These products can amplify airflow up to 17 times (depending on the size) resulting in dramatcally reduced levels of noise. RNA oligonucleotides from cells and viruses can be amplified for detection using the methods of Reverse Transcription and Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR). In a first step, a complementary strand of DNA (cDNA) is synthesized using a primer and reverse transcriptase. The cDNA is then amplified using standard PCR techniques. This can be accomplished by taking an aliquot from the reverse transcription reaction and adding a DNA-dependent DNA polymerase (e.g. Taq) and other reagents and then doing PCR. That method is commonly called "Two-step RT-PCR", or "Two-tube RT-PCR". Alternatively, all reagents, including both enzymes and gene-specific primers can be included in a single tube in order to do both reverse trancription and PCR without the need to open the tube between those reactions. That method is commonly called "One-Step RT-PCR" or "One-Tube RT-PCR". Both methods can include primers for a single target or for multiple targets (i.e. multiplex RT-PCR).
