Larger matrices may be constructed by daisy chaining the common signals from multiple cards. Expansion cables are available for the 50-512 and 50-513: The 50-512 can be expanded to 44x8 or the 50-513 can be expanded to 88x4 using two cards linked by the ribbon cable assembly 50-976-020-0.1M. Also the 50-512 can be expanded to 22x16 or the 50-513 can be expanded to 44x8 using two cards linked by the ribbon cable assembly 50-976-050-0.1M.

All 40-521 series modules are fitted with reed relays (ruthenium sputtered type), these offer very long life with good low level switching performance and excellent contact resistance stability.Spare Reed Relays are built onto the circuit board to facilitate easy maintenance with minimum downtime.

The 65-280-322 5x5 matrix is part of the 65-280 and 65-281 ranges of optical plug-in modules offering matrix & insert/bypass or multiplexer & SPST topologies respectively with all models based on MEMS fiber optic switches and available in various populations per plugin. In addition, a choice of different connector styles to suit most applications is offered: FC/APC (for optimal performance), FC/PC, SC/PC and ST for general applications and LC for high density applications. They use MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical-Systems) based optical switches to route signals between terminals by redirecting the optical signal.
