Contact Resistance Test Sets
When a high current passes through a pair of mechanically independent metallic contacts, the resistance must be as low as possible. An increase in resistance can lead to additional degradation, as I2R losses will cause local heating of the contact surfaces. Our range of micro-ohmmeters measure both steady state and dynamic low resistance values. With test currents up to 600A available, logging and trending are also available on some models. We ensure that our Contact Resistance tests sets are portable, making them suitable for field measurements. Bulk Acoustic Wave Resonators consist of two metal electrodes above and below a layer of a piezoelectric material. The piezoelectric material converts an electrical signal to a mechanical signal and vice versa. The metal electrodes provide the connections to/from the piezo material. The frequency at which resonance occurs depends on the thickness of the combined metal-piezo-metal stack. Advances in thin-film piezoelectric fabrication have enabled BAW resonators to meet RF filtering challenges up to 6000 MHz using standard MEMS fabrication process. High-performance BAW resonators-based RF filters are made of piezoelectric material having high Q-factor (>3000) and high coupling coefficient. Currently, no competitive technology provides the same high performance for RF filter applications when compared to BAW resonator-based RF filter up to 6000 MHz for the same size and cost.

Drum Core Inductors
Drum core inductors are so named as the conductor (round magnet wire) is wound directly onto the ferrite core which is shaped like a drum or spool. The wire is then connected to the core, a plastic base or metal lead frame to form the surface mount termination. Drum core inductors come in unshielded (high saturation current but potentially more EMI) and shielded constructions (lower saturation current but closed magnetic path for lower EMI). The shielded constructions use either a second ferrite core or a magnetic resin epoxy to create the magnetic shield.
