Voice, data, and video traffic is exploding as smartphones, IP TV, video streaming, and "cloud" based services takeoff. A majority of the backbone transport for these applications continues to be SONET and SDH optical transmission networks. A dominant protocol for IP transport is PoS (Packet over SONET) and another is ATM (Asynchronous Transfer Mode). Both schemes are packet based, with ATM using fixed size packets of 53 bytes called "cells", and PoS using variable packet sizes closely matching to Ethernet frames. GL's LightSpeed1000™ hardware platform (PCIe Card and USB Pod) is capable of OC-3/12 and STM-1/4 wire-speed processing on quad optical ports for functions such as wire-speed recording and wire-speed playback of Unchannelized and Channelized ATM, PoS, and RAW Traffic.

Because of the deep memory (up to 64 MSamples on one channel), long record measurements are available for intermittent phenomena and Fast Fourier Transform calculations with over 32 million spectral lines can be performed. Using very fast FFT algorithms, an FFT with 1 million spectral lines can be performed within a second.

Physitemp’s original Thermes high accuracy ISA based data acquisition system has been redesigned to create a more versatile USB model. The new system requires no internal connections to your computer and simply connects via an external USB port on your laptop or desktop computer. Two versions of the data acquisition system are available. The standard version, THERMES USB, is connected to your computer USB port. The wireless version - THERMES USB WFI, can be either directly connected to a USB port or, with the included wireless receiver, positioned up to 100 feet from the host computer. Each unit will accommodate up to 7 type T thermocouple sensors and multiple Thermes units may be connected to the same computer for more thermocouple inputs. A high accuracy electronic cold junction compensation circuit maintains typical system accuracy of ±0.2°C over an ambient temperature range of 15 to 35°C. Its working principle is schematically shown below. By comparison with Optical channel monitor / Optical performance monitor, the proprietary wavelength reference unit is introduced to ensure high precision wavelength measurements. Optoplex Optical wavelength meter is the only DWDM wavelength meter capable of measuring wavelengths of multi-lasers in DWDM networks over C-band and L-band wavelength range with a high accuracy better than that the wavelength locker can provide. For example, the device can simultaneously report 80 wavelength values of 80 channels at 50 GHz channel spacing with the wavelength accuracy ± 2 GHz. DPRAM, RS-232, or USB interfaces are available and OWM can be customized to meet specific requirements.
