Sinusoidal Target Arrays have been recognized as a superior test method for a variety of applications, from moiré contouring to reliable MTF Evaluation of materials, lenses, cameras, and electro-optical systems (Follow the hyperlink to learn about using Sinusoids for MTF eval). Sinusoidal Pattern Arrays are manufactured on two different materials for both reflective and transmissive applications. Because of the inherent limitations of reflective materials, the maximum spatial frequency of the reflective pattern arrays is limited to 20 cycles per mm, while the transmission film arrays are offered in various sizes up to 256 cycles per mm. In addition, the sinusoidal arrays are available in a Single Frequency Grating or with Multi-Frequency Gratings. Range-Doppler Target Generators

The ATG-9100 is an example of a laboratory-quality instrument that will simulate complex target motion. Microwave signals from the speed camera enter the instrument through an integrated antenna which is then downconverted and digitized. Target simulation data is added to the digitized signal to provide range and Doppler information. The modified digital data is then converted back to an IF and upconverted to the original microwave frequency of the speed camera and radiated back through the antenna. Since the ATG-9100 can be phase-locked to an external 10 MHz reference standard, this instrument is suitable for use as a calibration standard for speed cameras.
