Deep Ultraviolet Spectrophotometer System
VUVAS-10X
A new ultraviolet spectrophotometer system for optical metrology just arrived at NASA Goddard! The VUVAS-10X spectrophotometer works best in the 90 to 160 nanometer wavelength range, also known as deep or vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) region. It uses a windowless hydrogen plasma light source and differential pump section to reach many wavelengths beyond those of conventional deuterium lamps. The source also works with other gases, or gas mixtures, for atomic spectral line emission from about 30 nanometers (double ionized Helium gas) up to the Visible light range. The new spectrophotometer system, McPherson VUVAS-10X, uses a one-meter focal length high-resolution monochromator with the special light source, scintillated detector and Model 121 goniometric sample chamber. The system is ideal for optical transmission, absorbance and specular reflectance at incident angles up to 60 degrees. This McPherson spectrophotometer system will help develop, inspect and qualify optical materials and coatings used for very high altitude and extraterrestrial space flight missions.

Fourier Transform Optical Spectrum Analyzer, 600 - 1700 nm
OSA202C
Thorlabs' Optical Spectrum Analyzers (OSAs) perform highly accurate spectral measurements. Compatible with fiber-coupled and free-space light sources, these compact benchtop instruments suit a wide variety of applications, such as analyzing the spectrum of a telecom signal, resolving the Fabry-Perot modes of a gain chip, and identifying gas absorption lines. Many commonly available OSAs use grating-based monochromators, which have slow acquisition times due to the need to mechanically scan the grating and average out noise at each wavelength. Thorlabs' OSAs acquire the spectrum via a Fourier transform using a scanning Michelson interferometer in a push/pull configuration. This approach dramatically improves the acquisition time, enables a high-precision wavelength meter mode with 7 significant figures and ±1 part-per-million accuracy, and allows the included software to provide robust statistical analysis of the acquired spectra, as explained in the Design tab.

Monochromators
Diffraction gratings are specified by a line density in grooves per millimetre. The higher the density, the greater light is dispersed resulting in a relatively limited spectral extent. Furthermore, in general , the higher line density gratings are optimised for short wavelength use and vice versa. One must take into account the available grating(s) and the operation range of such before deciding how many gratings are required to cover a given range. Where multiple gratings are required, one can opt for a multiple-grating monochromator which would allow performing a spectral measurement over a great range, or whether a single (interchangeable) grating monochromator is used and the measurement performed in two or more parts.

Dual-USB3 Polarization Cameras
Celera P Series
Standard digital monochrome sensors capture light intensity and wavelength for each pixel: however, some applications require the inspection of polarized light to get relevant information.Instead of using external polarizing filters, Alkeria developed CELERA P, a new camera model featuring a special polarization image sensor. Thanks to its unique array of polarizer filters overlaid on top of the sensor's pixel array, CELERA P gets rid of all the external polarizing filters, combining the ease-of-use of the Alkeria USB3 cameras with the advanced capabilities of polarization imaging and unique FusionView feature.

Microscope Cameras
In contrast to digital cameras for normal photography, microscope cameras are built to meet the demands of high-end science- and research applications. For maximum light sensitivity they use large CCD or CMOS sensors for image acquisition. Color reproduction is often critical, why features like Microscanning or Color-Co-Site Sampling ensure optimal image quality. Due to the lack of a light absorbing color filter monochrome microscope cameras for fluorescence imaging are even more sensitive.

Monochromator Gratings - Type IV
HORIBA Scientific produces a wide range of holographic master gratings from which high precision replicas are manufactured.Using Type IV aberration-corrected monochromator gratings, a single concave grating disperses, collimates, and refocuses the light from the entrance slit onto the exit slit. Wavelength scanning is obtained through a simple rotation of the grating. The groove spacing of these gratings is computer-optimized to produce high quality images with a minimum of astigmatism and coma, even at large numerical apertures. Compared with Czerny-Turner monochromators (equipped with one plane grating, one collimating mirror and one focusing mirror), Type IV aberration-corrected monochromator gratings provide much better light collection efficiency and signal-to-noise ratio.

Complete Testing Solutions
System includes a lamp and monochromator for a tunable light source, which is coupled to a high sensitivity source meter with measurement software. This user-friendly system is the most powerful Spectral Response system currently on the market, but its true power is the ease of upgrading from the base PTS-1 to the more powerful PTS-2-QE (Quantum Efficiency) or PTS-3-CPM (Constant Photocurrent Method). Designed for researchers who have limited budgets but want to start work immediately, this allows the ability to do baseline studies until additional funding for the full QE or CPM system becomes available.
