The new FemtoFiber dichro midIR represents an ideal laser source for mid-infrared spectroscopy and imaging. It provides a tunable broadband output in the wavelength range of 5 to 15 m (20 - 60 THz, 670 - 2000 cm-1). The unique 400 cm-1 broad emission spectra allow to excite a wide range of materials at the same time. The air-cooled system is based on TOPTICAs proprietary fiber laser technologies and includes a difference frequency generation (DFG) unit as well as all necessary electronics into the same box. All functions and features are computer controllable by Ethernet or USB interfaces.

In a peer to peer conflict, weapon location radars used for counter battery purposes will be extremely vulnerable.With aerial/satellite based surveillance available for the opponent, radars will be seen. With electronic warfare means being omnipresent, radars will be triangulated and jammed. There is an urgent need for 24/7 persistent surveillance with (preferably) passive sensors. With mobility being the key for survival on the battlefield, rapid re-deployable, or even truly mobile sensor capabilities are required. Therefore, the traditional sheer sound pressure based sound ranging capability becomes obsolete, as the triangular footprint of the sensor nodes is too large to be installed on a manned, or unmanned platform. With the trend towards longer ranges and “shoot and scoot” drills, the concept of capturing the muzzle blast noise becomes questionable, as the speed of sound is too slow to provide timely localizations.

The new system requires no internal connections to your computer and simply connects via an external USB port on your laptop or desktop computer. Two versions of the data acquisition system are available. The standard version, THERMES USB, is connected to your computer USB port. The wireless version - THERMES USB WFI, can be either directly connected to a USB port or, with the included wireless receiver, positioned up to 100 feet from the host computer. Each unit will accommodate up to 7 type T thermocouple sensors and multiple Thermes units may be connected to the same computer for more thermocouple inputs. A high accuracy electronic cold junction compensation circuit maintains typical system accuracy of ±0.2°C over an ambient temperature range of 15 to 35°C. Ironwood Electronics extended its high performance socket product line with smart features. Sockets are typically rated for 2K to 500K cycles. How do we know if the sockets are used for 100K or 200K insertions? Solution is electronic chip insertion counter. Our sockets can be integrated with electronics counter into the compression mechanism of the socket lid. A push button is exposed on the compression plate. Every time a chip is compressed, push button is actuated which in turn activates the electronic circuitry inside the lid. These activations are counted by the counter IC and displayed in LCD. Let’s say a contact element is rated for 2K insertions. After 2K insertions, this contact element will be replaced by new contact element. Now, the counter has to start the counting from the beginning. To achieve this function, a reset option is included in the electronics circuitry. When reset is actuated, LCD display will go to “0”.

The LISST-DEEP instrument obtains in-situ measurements of particle size distribution, optical transmission, and the optical volume scattering function (VSF). Using a red 670nm diode laser and a custom silicon detector, small-angle scattering from suspended particles is sensed at 32 specific log-spaced angle ranges. This measurement is post-processed to obtain sediment size distribution, volume concentration, optical transmission, and VSF. The electronics and optical configuration in the LISST-DEEP are very similar to Sequoia’s workhorse, the LISST- 100X. However, because of the extreme difficulty associated with keepingalignment under high pressure, the LISSTDEEP hardware design is radically different from the LISST-100X. This allows the LISST-DEEP to be deployed down to 3000 m and obtain reliable measurements of the in situ particle size distribution and volume concentration in waters with optical transmission up to 98.5%.

Columbia's SI-701 Series of Inclinometers are electronic tilt sensors based on Force Balance Accelerometer technology. They produce high level low impedance output proportional to the sine of the tilt angle. Model SI-701B is a low cost general purpose sensor that can be up-graded with the addition of the Columbia "HP" torquer system (SI-701BI) for greater accuracy and ruggedness. A bi-axial version of both units (SI-702B) is also available. The Model SI-701BI is designed with an output circuit made for 4-20mA data transmission systems for industrial applications. Silicon Detectors

Through the photovoltaic effect, detectors provide a means of transforming light energy to an electrical current. The root of the theory behind this phenomenon is a small energy gap between the valence and conduction bands of the detector. When light, with enough energy to excite an electron from the valence to the conduction band, is incident upon the detector, the resulting accumulation of charge leads to a flow of current in an external circuit. Since light is not the only source of energy that can excite an electron, detectors will have some amount of current that is not representative of incident light. For example, fluctuations in thermal energy can easily be mistaken for light intensity changes. A variety of these "non-light" contributions are present and, when summed up, make up the total noise within the detector.
