The force balance accelerometer has a classical critically-damped, second-order frequency response. There is no peaking in the response but simply a smooth roll-off above the natural frequency. This property along with the excellent characteristics of the "HP" torquer design makes Columbia accelerometers the best choice for demanding applications where precise DC and near-DC measurements are needed in demanding shock and wide band vibration environments. Columbia force balance accelerometers are available to cover virtually all applications. Thermopile optical power sensors are based on thermocouples. A thermocouple consists of two dissimilar metals connected in series. To detect radiation, one metal junction is typically blackened to absorb the radiation. The temperature rise of this junction with respect to another non-irradiated junction generates a voltage. Analog Devices high speed, differential CAT-5 video receivers and equalizers compensate for the transmission losses of UTP and coaxial cables up to 300 meters in length. Various gain stages are summed together to best approximate the inverse frequency response of the cable. Logic circuitry controls the gain functions of the individual stages so that the lowest noise can be achieved at short-to-medium cable lengths. The iProbe is an intelligent temperature sensor that can be calibrated independently of SBIR’s blackbody systems or 104i precision thermometers. These ultra-stable, highly responsive iProbes are used to provide long term accuracy and repeatability of under 0.010°C. Each iProbe incorporates onboard flash memory that allows all calibration constants and calibration date information to be stored independently of the blackbody or thermometer system. This allows iProbes to be exchanged for use on a blackbody or thermometer without any loss in stability or accuracy. To re-calibrate a system you need only exchange the current iProbe with a recently calibrated one. No special equipment is required and there is no down time in the test area.

The CD15 Sine Wave Carrier Demodulator operates with variable reluctance transducers to provide a DC output signal for dynamics as well as steady state measurements. A 5kHz sine wave excitation is applied to the two inductance ratio arms of the transducer and the resulting output is demodulated and amplified using the latest integrated circuit techniques. The DC output is obtained from an active filter circuit and gives a uniform response from steady state to 1000 Hz.
