The PCI-9524 is a robust, multi-purpose module designed for turnkey material test systems (MTS). Equipped with four strain gauge-based transducer input channels, four general purpose analog input channels, and a 3-axis motion controller, the PCI-9524 delivers a complete hardware solution for MTS manufacturers. The PCI-9524 easily integrates physical quantity measurement and implements strategy of close-loop control in a single module package. For transducer measurement, the PCI-9524 supports sensitivity from 1.0 mV/V to 4.0 mV/V and provides a 1/200000 accuracy of measurement of full scale. These features make the PCI-9524 suitable for precise measurement in large-scale transducers.

The LBM Series (Load Button) load cells are offered for compression only applications where space is limited. This load button is a direct replacement for many of the same type and bolt patterns currently used in the industry. The matching surface must be flat and at least 2 inches in diameter. The loading diameter is slightly convex for accurate load distribution. Eight threaded mounting holes are provided on the bottom surface for fastening down from beneath. These sensors are manufactured from heat treated 17-4ph stainless steel, and the sensing element incorporates bonded foil strain gages of the highest quality. They are sealed for protection against most industrial environments.

Material Sensing & Instrumentation
MSI Time-Domain-Reflectometry (TDR) Structural-Health Monitoring probes the structural health of a composite part by propagating a fast electrical pulse along a distributed linear sensor which has been fabricated directly in the laminate. The sensor is formed from the native graphite fibers already used in composite manufacture, and constitutes zero defect. Fibers are patterned into a microwave waveguide geometry, or transmission line, and interrogated by a rapid pulse as shown below. Structural faults along the line cause distortions in waveguide geometry, producing reflected pulses similar to radar. Cracking, delamination, disbonds, moisture penetration, marcelling, and strain are all detected by propagation delay, for sensor lengths up to several meters.

Analog input boards are useful for measuring variably changing conditions in the real world. When we want to measure these variably changing conditions, we need analog inputs to convert these changing real world conditions to changing electrical quantities. For example, monitoring the temperature inside a wood kiln, or the water pressure on the output of a pump, or the heart rate of a medical patient. In each of these cases, you can use one of our analog input devices to convert the electrical data from a sensor or transducer into binary data that can then be used by your computer. The device that converts this data is known as an analog to digital converter (abbreviated ADC, A/D, or A to D). An analog input is a measurable electrical signal with a defined range. The analog input changes continuously in a definable manner in relation to the measured property. This data is very useful for process monitoring, process control, or simple monitoring / data collection and acquisition.
