Near Field Probes 30 MHz up to 3 GHz
RF1 set
The RF1 near field probe set consists of 4 passive near field probes for making measurements in the development phase of E-field and magnetic field in the ranges of 30 MHz to 3 GHz on electronic assemblies. The probe heads of the RF1 set allow for measurements close to the electronic assemblies, e.g. on single IC pins, conducting paths, components and their connectors in order to localize interference sources. Field orientation and field distribution on an electronic assembly can be detected through a trained special use of the near field probe. The near field probes are small and handy. They have a sheath current attenuation and are electrically shielded. They can be connected to a spectrum analyzer or an oscilloscope with a 50 Ω input. They do not have an internal terminating resistance.

This high input resistance means that passive probes are the ideal tool for low frequency signals since circuit loading at these frequencies is minimized. Passive probes are designed to handle voltages of at least 400V, some as high as 600V. Teledyne LeCroy passive probes feature an attenuation sense pin which tells the oscilloscope to scale the waveforms automatically requiring no user input.Each passive probe is recommended for a certain oscilloscope, using the right passive probe with the right oscilloscope means that the probe will be properly compensated across the entire bandwidth. Using probes with a different oscilloscope will only let you compensate for low frequencies.

The Handyscope HS5 is the first USB oscilloscope (USB powered) sampling at 500 MHz, with a 14 bits resolution and a 250 MHz bandwidth. This makes it possible to analyze very fast signals with very small amplitudes. The smallest distortions can be revealed due to the high resolution and bandwidth. Because of the deep memory (up to 64 MSamples on one channel), long record measurements are available for intermittent phenomena and Fast Fourier Transform calculations with over 32 million spectral lines can be performed. Passive probe with X1/X10 switch
They are normally designated X1 and X10, although 1X and 10X are sometimes seen. The designation refers to the factor by which the impedance of the scope itelf is multiplied by the probe.The X1 probes are suitable for many low frequency applications. They offer the same input impedance of the oscilloscope which is normally 1 MΩ. However for applications where better accuracy is needed and as frequencies start to rise, other test probes are needed.
