The 40-412A-021 (PXI) and 42-412A-021 (PXIe) are 64-Channel Digital Output modules with high output voltage and current capability. The outputs can be used for high or low drive and each channel is capable of sourcing 0.5A from the high side or 0.5A sink on the low side. Accidental operation of both high and low side driver on the same channel is prevented by the supplied driver. Outputs are fully protected against over-voltage, over-current and thermal overload, ensuring robust and reliable operation in the toughest test environments. For high side driving, the voltage source is supplied externally, allowing the module to drive high capacity loads separate from the chassis power supply. For low side driving, the external source is not used and the module’s output operates an open collector or open drain driver.

Each power outlet can be programmed to switched on in sequence with a specific timing delay. The delay can be staggered to ensure that order dependent systems - like PXI - can be switched on and off in an orderly way with just one operation. A staggered start up also limits the inrush current associated with the powering up of equipment, including earth current inrush, placing less stress on cabling and leakage breakers. Power on or off instructions can be initiated from either the front panel switch or via the serial interface.

The unit provides support for all 1553A, 1553B, McAir and STANAG 3838 variants in a self contained battery operated unit, and is supplied with a matching power supply and battery charger unit for desk-top use. An additional stand-alone Chronological Bus Monitor (CBM) facility is also provided, with comprehensive multi-level triggering capability.
