With the MR 8050 resistances highly inductive Resistance Meters windings of transformers, motors and reactors can be measured. (range 100 µΩ with 0.01µΩ resolution up to 6 kΩ). The performance of the test objects can be up to 800 MVA or even more. The magnetic loading of a transformer is performed quickly using a high loading voltage (60V). This is important for time critical measurements (cooling curves). The unloading of the transformers core is very fast, very safe, as the energy is total destroyed in the MR 8050.

The unit is compact and lightweight. The basic system is 7″ wide by 2.5″ high and 12″ long. When measurements are needed below approximately 100 micro-ohm-centimeters, the basic system is piggybacked onto a second enclosure that houses a power amplifier with a current gain of ten. The combined unit measures 7″ wide by 5″ high and 12″ long. The combined unit weighs 11.5 pounds. Two short cables interconnect the two enclosures for powering the power amplifier and routing the signals to the fixture or four point probe. The front panel of the basic system includes a 32-character backlit LCD display and a set of function keys. An easy-to-use menu will allow access to user defined parameters such as sample thickness, sample volume, and calibration constants; upper and lower alarm limits, relative measurements, and several others.

It is ideal for testing transformer windings (power transformers, distribution, autotransformers) and for on-load tap changer verification. In addition, any RMO-TW transformer ohmmeter & tap changer analyzer can also perform transformer demagnetization.The series contains 4 models, with maximal test currents from 10 A (RMO10TW) to 50 A (RMO50TW). They are fitted in a portable and lightweight metal housing.All transformer ohmmeters from RMO-TW series generate a true DC ripple-free current with automatically regulated measurement and discharging circuit. The injection of current and discharge of energy from the test object are automatically regulated.Three independent channels enable testing of three windings in series.
