UV Index Measurement

The sglux UV-Index sensors measure the UVI with a worldwide unique low measurement uncertainty of less than 5 %. This makes our sensors compliant to the highest measurement precisions class one according the DIN/EN 5031-11, chapter 8. Since 2018 our product UV-Cosine_UVI (ERYCA) is appointed for public authority tasks: The German Federal Office for Radiation Protection (BfS) services 27 measurement points in Germany for public information of the daily UV-Index. Twenty of these points (Andernach, Chieming, Duderstadt, Fichtelberg, Genthin, Giessen-Wettenberg, Schauenburg-Kassel, Langen, Lueneburg, Munchen-Neuherberg, Norderney, Belm/Osnabrueck, Schauinsland, Tholey, Todendorf, Waldhof-Falkenstein, Waldmuenchen, Wurmberg, Zingst and Zirchow) use the sglux ERYCA to obtain the local UV-Index value. In 2017 ARPANSA (Australian Government’s primary authority on radiation protection and nuclear safety) began replacing the existing biometers with SiC photodiode UV sensors (sglux ERYCA) at all network sites. There are currently thirteen measurement sites in Australia that have been upgraded to the new sensors.

This allows for quick and convenient 3 scales of preset voltage for high and low voltage simulation. Power is supplied by state-of-the-art IBGT pulse width-modulated power amplifiers resulting in highly efficient power conversion, compact design and maximized performance. With up to 90% efficiency the AFC minimizes heat dissipation so less infrastructure cooling is required.

Distance measuring equipment (DME) is a transponder-based radio navigation technology that measures distance by timing the propagation delay of UHF radio signals. The DME system is composed of a UHF transmitter/receiver (interrogator) in the aircraft and a UHF receiver/transmitter (transponder) on the ground. The aircraft interrogates the ground transponder with a series of pulse-pairs (interrogations) and the ground station replies with an identical sequence of reply pulse-pairs with a precise time delay (typically 50 microseconds). The time difference between interrogation and reply minus the 50 microsecond ground transponder delay is measured by the interrogator's timing circuitry and translated into a distance measurement in nautical miles which is then displayed in the cockpit.

The SC5510A and SC5511A are VCO-based, synthesized signal sources with very low phase noise and an amplitude control of 0.01 dB throughout its -30 dBm to +15 dBm output power range. By utilizing a unique multiple phase-locked loop architecture, phase spurs are kept below -70 dBc across the entire tuning range, even at 1 Hz step resolution. These 20 GHz signal sources include an additional, independent RF2 channel with a tunable frequency range from 100 MHz to 3 GHz and a tuning resolution of 25 MHz. Both modules make great general-purpose laboratory signal sources where demanding low phase noise and signal purity are required.
